7-Way Strat wiring diagram using a volume CTS push pull pot. This popular strat wiring mod allows you to play all 3 pickups sumultaneously as well as the neck and bridge in series together.
Wiring Configuration
The simple addition of a push pull pot as a volume control offers an extra dimension to your Strat. Effectively turning your 5 way switch into a 7 way switch, the push pull activates the bridge pickup in addition to whatever is selected on the 5 way switch.
With the push pull pot in the "down" position, your Strat plays like a normal Strat with the standard 5 way switch configuration.
With the push pull in the "up" position, the bridge pickup is activated along with whatever is selected on the switch.
A relatively simply mod and it makes you wonder why the Strat doesn't come with these options from the factory (especially the neck and bridge combo).
The same result is achievable by using a mini SPDT toggle switch (aka the Gilmour Strat mod). However, this does require drilling an extra hole in your pickguard.
